Okay, we have a contest in the works, then! I'm bored of getting irritated in the down under (don't ask, please), so let's spice life up!
We all know police dramas and forensic dramas are pretty tangled in reality and mostly base around it, while we also know that the charm of Sci-Fi and Fantasy is how they differentiate from reality. After so many episodes of Gotham, CSI, NCIS, Flash, Arrow, Gravity Falls and the like, I realized no cops came to investigate who stole all the fucks I used to give, so I decided to say fuck that noise and replace it with more noise. Like... werewolves howling and lasers.
Contest Description
Participants must make a three chapter story about a crime investigation in a Sci-Fi or Fantasy setting. It must involve the law enforcers finding the clues, following them and solving the mystery in the story. The contest will work in 3 stages and each stage will focus on one chapter of said story.
The story must be told from the POV of the police or its in-story equivalent while they're working to solve the crime.
The story must be a three-parter. The chapters must be organized around being split in three parts.
Each chapter will have to have at least 450 words, no upper limit. Conjunctions won't be counted in the sum and be counted I'll be checking them.
To participate, you must submit the story to your channel and link it to this journal. No other linking will work.
The date of the submissions must be coincident with the dates of each corresponding stage. We won't take any work made before or after the stated limits of said stage.
For the 1st stage, anyone can post. For the next stages, only those who posted in the immediate previous stage can participate.
First Place: 1 month PM + Feature in the group
Second Place: 100 + Feature in the group
Third Place: 100
These will be awarded to the best complete stories, after the prizes awarded to the 3rd stage winners.
First Place: 12 month PM + Feature in the group
Second Place: 3 month PM + Feature in the group
Third Place: 1 month PM + Feature in the group
Fourth to Sixth Places: 200 + Feature in the group
Stage 1 will begin in Monday, June 19, 00:00 GMT and end in Monday, August 28, 00:00 GMT. Those are the deadlines for the first chapters.
The method of selecting the winner will be by judging, and so far I'm the only one doing the judging (unless someone else wants to come on).
This is technically my first contest, I hope I'll make it right. Good luck, ladies and gentlemen.

Come on, we're having a blast!
About the Critic Me folder...
I'm sure it was clear that the "Critic Me" folder was made for something... oh, yeah, for those who want an actual and honest review of their stories and such. There had come to my ears that it's not really working. So, please, I ask you all, if possible, to actually comment the stories on the Critic Me folder. It's mainly the only reason it exist: for asking to have any kind of constructive critic about their art. So, if you feel so inclined, take a moment to actually get into it.
Welcome to HERE!
Ah, the memories... I wrote this group when I was just a Co-founder a couple years ago. Now, I'm a full fledged Founder and I can see this group haven't changed in the slightest from those times... you can see why I'm worried about it, right?
See, this group haven't seem much action since the times of where the current folder structure was made by yours truly (I took a similar approach in several of my other groups, so blame it on my daily routine), even the same amount of art in the Featured and other non-standard folders. And it saddens me, really. Apparently, things had gown north thanks to several issues with the site, beginning with it
Closing down
I've been mulling this over for a while and I'm closing down this group. Right now, I have neither the time, nor the inclination to do anything with it. Unless somebody wants to take over the job that fell onto me when the founder and previous administrator left without warning, this is going to be gone.
If you are interested in taking over, you can leave a comment in this journal. I'll hang around for a couple of days or so to give people a chance to respond, but I'm not going to be spending a lot of time waiting. There are plenty of better writing groups out there on DA and most of them actually do things, like providing critiques, whi

I don't understand the deadline things.... are inscriptions open till March 1 and only after March 1 is someone who is interested in joining supposed to create/submit the story or does one have till March 1 to submit the intro part of the 3 part contest...?
that second to last line is also confusing " After the inscriptions for the first stage are done, we will not take any work for the contest. .." Which reverts to the question in the first paragraph... What exactly is the timetable here?
